Thoughts on buying 2019 Tahoe this December? Before 2020's come out?

So thinking about trading in my 2017 Tahoe LT, if I can find a dealer desperate enough to unload a 2019 late this year, before the 2020 refresh comes out. Positive equity in my 2017, so no worries there.

Thoughts? I heard the 2020 will be updated, but I don't know the specifics. Wife is telling me to check out new, as I am at 39,800 miles, so could trade in/sell it with the 5/60 warranty still in place.

Who knows the details on the 2020 models? ANY and ALL replies are appreciated, thanks!

Personally wouldn’t buy a new model year but to each their own. Look around im sure you can find ‘19 or ‘20 cheap since new trucks are due 2021

2020/1 is a complete redesign. Not just an update/refresh. Your 2019 will almost immediately be the ‘old’ model.

If that matters to you my suggestion would be wait and buy a 2022.

Kinda depends what matters to you and how long you’d keep it.

I don’t think there’s a discernible difference upgrading from a 17 to 19, especially at the same trim level.

I can only see upgrading to a 6.2 or LWB making sense.

Also, as people said, next gen should release ~2020 which would undoubtedly be a massive upgrade in comparison and would be worth the additional cost.

I'd always go with the ultimate of the last generation before being the guinea pig for the new one (first year model). That's what my daddy taught me anyways.

I thought about the same thing, I have purchased first year models many times, because I am old, and rarely had problems, but they do happen for sure. I purchased a 2019 and Callaway made it better

Agree. I would probably get another LT, depending on what is leftover, and the price. I like the thought of starting at zero miles, but no so much the idea of re-starting another loan at payment 1. I don't need/use the 3rd row, so the 2020 independent suspension, etc doesn't really matter to me.

2020 upgrade (to me) doesn't look that drastic, but I also haven't done much research on it, just thinking this idea through because the wife mentioned it. Happy wife=happy life, so have to entertain the idea at least.

I totally agree with this sentiment. The 21 will most likely come with the digital vehicle platform (Think Tesla like updates via the Cloud). IRR is worth the wait for ride comfort for sure.
