my tahoe is back from paint and while i'm doing the interior i want to get a lift ordered so i can finally finish this project. right now i'm stock other than the bars being cranked about an inch. i originally wanted to do 4" suspension with 33's using the rcx kit. after reading that the rcx kits do not fully measure up to their advertised height, i have a new idea but i'm not sure if it would work.

order the 6" kit but with 4" blocks for the rear instead of the 6". if i'm understanding this correctly, it would put me at 5" lift in the front and 4" in the rear on a stock truck. this would allow me to decrank the bars to level it and keep really good angles up front.

also, i'm planning on running 33x12.5 nitto terra grapplers on a 17x9 or 18x10 wheel. what kind of backspacing would i need for either one? the wheel i'm looking at is hopefully the 18x10 and it has a 4.750 backspacing. will this work? if not, what kind of backspacing do i need to look for for 9 or 10 inch wide wheels, 17" and 18".

The 4" and 6" kits are exactly the same only the 6" kit comes with an add a leaf for the rear, the front is a full 5" drop with either, and they both have 4" blocks, the height adjustments for the front are dependant on your TB settings

As far as backspacing I'm running 16x10 with 4.5" of backspacing and have a little rubbing while in reverse with the wheel at full lock, but my tires are 15.50's, I think you'll be fine with those 18x10's

wow i did not realize that front part of the kits were the same. that makes it simple, 4" kit will be ordered! as for the wheels i'm just hoping that i dont have any rubbing issues.

RCX Live Chat says that they have different size crossmembers as well. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Both kits have the same part#'s if you download the instructions
Mine is the 4" kit and it dropped the diff/control arms 5", I put the extra cost towards a shackle flip for the rear

matt, are you saying that both 4 and 6" kits lift the front a true 5? did you crank to get the 6?

buy the 6" kit and leave CVs set close to flat. When the front of the truck is 1-2 inches higher in the front it looks level.

With my DC 6.5" kit (a true 6.5" drop) I had 6" springs out back, the fenders all measured within .25" but the rear of the truck looked taller. I cranked the front an inch higher than the rear and now it appears to be level.

But MY advice is get the taller kit, don't crank it yet, run the 4" block and enjoy the ride....with some room to grow.

Yeah man, I kept my 285's on at 1st and ran flat cv angles, then I went with the 33x15.50 tire and cranked the TB's a little

with 285's

with current tires before I put the Realift TB relocators on

ok so i'll go ahead and get the 6" kit. so the block gets you 4" and then the leafs get you the additional 2"? that wouldnt be bad because in the future i could keep those and go up if i wanted to.

yup, 6" up front with a 4" block will be perfect IMO.

You will be happy with this set up. I remember the day the truck was done, I looked at it and thought it was huge, now it looks tiny. I wish it was a 12" kit.
