I went back and re-read the OP’s post. It sounded like he was looking to go to a larger overall diameter combination. That would mean a change to his speedometer if he deviates too far.

Yes, but what overall diameter will be too much and cause rubbing, at what height when lowered that's what I don't understand yet either.

Im not sure about the correct answer there, but I'm guessing that 22" wheels/tires are less $$$ than 24 or 26 inch wheels tires. If this is the case, I'd like to fill the wheel wells for a sportier look, and I thought that lowering was part of getting that look if the wheels were not gigantic.

You've got the right idea. How low do you want to go? A 2/3 drop is pretty economical and makes a big difference in the look. A 2/3 on 20's with stock tire sizes (32" diameter) is a pretty sporty look imho but thats just an opinion.

Does 2/3 mean two-thirds of stock top of fender? Can I adjust the stock keys down vs. up? What about this free travel mod? I read that it lowers 1". What brands of replicas should I stay away from? I've heard that some can break on potholes easily.

A 2/3 drop is 2in front and 3in rear.

You can adjust the keys down, but I don't know how far.

As far as I know (I'm not very well versed on lowering) the free travel mod does not lower a vehicle any. Just increases travel as the name suggests.

As @rgosart said. X/X is referring to inches of drop front & rear respectively.

Stock keys can be adjusted down a little without a noticeable penalty to ride quality. How much exactly is up to you... I'd say @ ~1" drop ride quality isn't bad. If you want more you really should go with some drop spindles.

But why take my word for it, it costs zero $ and however long it takes to jack up the front end and back off the torsion bolts a little...15 mins max?

The rear can be accomplished easily with a spring swap. And some more work if you have air ride.

We should probably start another thread about lowering your truck though before I write a dissertation on lowering in a thread about tire recommendations....
