I'm getting close to 250k miles and cleaned my MAF once. I'd be more inclined to replace it at this point than cleaning it.
I definitely appreciate the info and will more than likely replace it at this point.
I'm all about preventative maintenance.
Thanks Double, much appreciated

I'm curious if this will help with my surging in acceleration, drives me nuts.

Thanks guys
At 250k you might want to do both the TB and MAF just my .02 they are wear parts in my opinion, could very well be if the trans is original it could be giving you notice....

Looking for parts as we speak haha.
As far as I can see, it is. That's what I'm afraid of.
I'm debating if an 80 swap would be justifiable.

Bit of work to do that, it's one of those cost versus remaining tangible use kind of things

True true, not planning on getting rid of the old hoe any time soon. But, I'd rather be driving it than working on it haha.
Stock replacement would probably be the way to go.

Ordered a new MAF and am on the hunt for a new TB. Think I found a genuine GM on Amazon.

While I was changing/filling my oil I noticed my AirRade Jr intake coupler that connects the MAF to the intake tube was dry rotting. Need to find a replacement asap.

TCC lockup happens around 45-50mph (depending on throttle load). You could be right at that line and thats why its unlocking. When you press the brake pedal your brake light switch is also used to immediately disengage lockup. This keeps you from rolling up to a light and needing to stop quickly with the Converter locked which is like riding the throttle and the brakes at the same time. A brake light switch going bad (internal contacts) would also cause the problem you are seeing.

When I had my Tahoe tuned, I wish I could remember when they set it to lock up. I know just cruising it locks up early 40/45 and when I'm on the highway it locks up later. He also did something around 50mph to make it seem like I have another gear, wish I could remember but, it's been so long. Finding someone reputable in my area has not been easy so, I let it be for now.

I will replace the brake light switch for preventative measures though. I know years ago it randomly went on me. Noticed my cruise didn't work.

Appreciate the info:cheers:
