Ok, I did mine last summer the same way I do on my Chevy Colorado
1. remove NEG battery cable from battery
2. remove the throttle body from the truck
3. Clean the throttle body with a micro fiber cloth and CRC Throttle body cleaner
4. Reinstall the throttle body
5. Reconnect the NEG battery terminal
and now enjoy your clean throttle body. I always do it annually with cleaning of the MAF and oil change

I do the the same thing, no problems at all i even open the butter fly to clean the edges haven't ran into any problems but that's just me.
