Gonna clean my throttle body tomorrow and I heard that it will be hard to start

How hard and does it really pay to clean it

Both my 00 Silverado and 01 Suburban had throttles were sticking closed. I just sprayed something like carb cleaner for fuel injected systems (throttle body cleaner maybe) in there to clean off the buildup of gunk. They worked great after. I don't remember them starting hard after I sprayed them, so if they did it sure wasn't much worse than normal. Just don't spray half a can in there and you'll be fine.

while you are getting throttle body cleaner, grab a can of mass air cleaner also. when you go to clean throttle body, take air inlet pipe off and pull the mass air out. spray it with mass air cleaner ONLY, never touch the wires, and let it air dry COMPLETELY. but itll dry completely while you clean your throttle body. use an old tooth brush to get in there good. clean the throttle blade seating area very well, and use the brush to clean where the throttle blade pivots from. after you scrub and spray, wipe it down as well as possible with a shop rag. then reconnect mass air and inlet tube, all done
