Hey guys,

Last weekend I noticed while accelerating in 4WD there is a thumping sound coming from the front driver's side area. It only happens when rapidly accelerating. Since I'm in NYC with a 25MPH speed limit, I haven't been able to do much testing since every corner has a traffic light, and there's usually a vehicle directly in front or behind me. Not sure what this could be?

Then yesterday I noticed a scraping sound coming from the front driver's side wheel when the wheel is locked to the right while in 2WD. There was also some resistance. I went to a parking lot and drove in a circle and sometimes it happened and other times it was fine. At times it felt like the front left wheel locked for a moment while I was going in a circle.

Does this sound like a common issue with a 2003 Tahoe?

I would be leaning toward a failing/binding cv joint. But yea, could be a hub bearing or ball joint binding or control arm bushings bad that allow the arm to be in a weird angle causing other components to be noisy. :hmmm2:

I called Cardone today to ask if their CV axles are made in China, and I was told the re-manufactured part is made in Texas but the new one is made in China.

I also wanted to know if it would be better to go with the thermoplastic vs the neoprene boot, thinking that the NYC climate might require a tougher material, but they didn't really have an answer.

I went to rockauto.com to check prices and I see the made in china parts are listed as one of their most popular parts. So I'm still trying to figure out which one to get. I checked Autozone and only found their brand Duralast http://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/...03/8-cylinders-t-5-3l-sfi/54412_703123_12553/

Rockauto also sells the OEM ACDelco part for $311.99 :wtf:

Anybody have any experience with Cardone or Duralast CV Axles?
