I had a bad spark plug wire with spark jumping to the manifold once that sounded just like a loose lifter. Check for a jumping spark against the exhaust at night.

Mine sounds like that when its cold. It goes away when it gets warm. I believe it is 'piston slap'. Let us know what it is, im very curious.

My oil pressure at cold start up is near 60psi. once warm it very rarely goes under 40psi. His is 20psi? Could it be something with the oiling system? Newb to that, but just asking.

Im pretty sure every single one of our OBS rigs has piston slap. Hahaha. It sounds like a damn blender in my cab when I hit the gas but the ticking noise isn't from that. Mine does it like 992door and my oil pressure is and always has been spot on

Yeah piston slap is loud even on the 383. It sounds like a light diesel engine in the cab. I hate it.

Well I think it is on its final leg. Oil pressure is just above 0 when warm idling and running 55-60 it is only at about 20. And it sounds like I have someone under the hood with a hammer hitting everything

I got one hell of a tick when I start my truck. Our suburban had it as well. Pretty sure the leak is coming from the area where the headers connect to the exhaust
