So decided to be productive today and finishing wiring my speedometer from my 411 PCM swap. Once finished I drove the truck to the parts store and back to get a longer belt for my alternator swap. After buttoning it up the fuel pump is making absolutely no noise. Messed with the battery it ran, went back later and it's quiet again. I've double checked the battery, has 13 volts, terminals are good clean and properly connected. So is this how it happens, they just quit on you? Just need to confirm my suspicions if I need to replace it or not. IF it's bad I'll be replacing with the Delphi FG0088 pump, $200 bucks that should of gone to a new hood or something.

Thanks

Far as I know, they just quit.

Mine did so while on the highway at 100. Off goes the truck and I coasted out of the left lane onto the shoulder. I banged on the tank as hard as I could with my foot with no luck.

I've heard people tell me they gave the tank a good whack and got it running again. But really, at that point its time to replace.

I recall the pump being a little louder prior to failing the first time. The second time, nothing. Just quit while driving, fortunately not on the highway in rush hour.

Thanks for the help, I replaced the relay and that seems to have been the issue for the time being. The pump is much louder than the normal Chevy wine so I guess I'll buy one and put it in sooner than later. My truck has 125,000 miles on it.

That's good to know, when it happens I'll know for sure.
