Hello all,

I'm new here. my wife has a 2019 Yukon xl with the 5.3 and the 6l80. I have a question regarding the timing cover gaskets on this particular year of engines. the dealer pointed out a small leak on the driver side bottom of the timing cover. its very minimal but its starting to coat the bottom of the vehicle a little and i don't particularly like that. it sounds like a God awful job but the dealer wants 3600 dollar to do it and it seems like there's less that 100 dollars worth of parts. problem is i cant find a gasket set for this particular year online that looks like the timing case. do they just use gasket maker on these years? the model before this one has a gasket. also the oil pan needs to come off to do the job, i cant find one of those gasket either. only one for the lower pan. anyone out there help me out with some part numbers or tips and tricks on how to do this. i know my way around a vehicle pretty good but i wanna make sure i have an idea before i just dive in as its my wife's daily driver.

Thanks

RJ

Pics of the truck, please.

Go to GMPartsDirect.com, enter your VIN, go to the Engine section, and look for the exploded diagram of the front of the engine. You should find the gasket along with the correct part number.

Joseph,

thanks for the reply. Yeah i was on all the Gm parts sites online. looked at all the exploded views. none of them give any gaskets for the timing cover or the oil pan. they do give part numbers for the pan and the timing cover itself but nothing on the gaskets.

Thanks

Fel-Pro Oil Pan Gasket - OS30953T

Part # OS30953T Line: FEL
from O'Reilly's

Fel-Pro Timing Cover Gasket Set - TCS46221-1

Part # TCS46221-1 Line: FEL

Let me know if that helps, I work at O'Reilly's part time so I can be more specific for your application if needed.

Found this post in a search for timing cover gasket, and am running into the same issue the OP is. Looking that FelPro P/N up on the O'Reilly's web site, it states that it only fits Tahoe to 2014. I'm dealing with the online chat on one of the GM web sites, and it's not going well. Perhaps GM quit using a gasket there even though the parts diagram shows one?

Did the OP ever reach resolution with this issue?
