..... people have had trouble seeing out of the back windows when tinted darker

I put 5% limo tint on all windows behind the front doors. Problem seeing out.... ohh heck yes, big time! The 5% tint plus the factory tint takes visibility down to about 1%. But I learned to drive with door mounted rear view mirrors rather quickly with my Excursion. Plus the Tahoe has the rear view camera whenever I do go backwards in it. I don't view not being able to see out the back windows as a problem when I want the dark tint for privacy.

It's only on one side, it's a defroster. It only works when the defrost button is pushed. Either way, there will be no problems.

I would have to kindly disagree. I thought this at first as well. I am 99.9% sure that it is the AM/FM radio antenna.

What would be the point of a defroster on just one side??

Well I guess the driver wouldn't need a defroster on the other side?

But I thought we confirmed it was the radio antenna?

X2...Im not this dark as I only have 20% over the top of factory...privacy is great but my main benefit is keeping out as much heat as possible and it definitely helps when the truck sits in the unforgiving TX heat all day

I was pretty sure this is a defroster. If not the am/fm antenna sure does melt the snow off really well. A defroster would only be on one side because there is no need for the driver to try and look out the rear window on his/her side to check traffic not saying that you can really see out of it. If you get back there and look the inside of each windows are different sizes but the outside they are the same.

If you want to try it out push the defroster button let it sit for a few minutes then touch it with your hands (not responsible for burns, lol).
Even if it would be an antenna then there is no effect on the reception as many people have there back windows tinted.

I just want to make sure that no one is confused here. Whether that rear window posses a defroster or not I can't confirm nor deny. What I can tell you is that it most definitely holds the AM/FM radio antenna. Check HERE for confirmation. The video is rather boring, so I am referring specifically to the part that starts at 5:25 and goes to about 5:45

Either way, tinting won't be a problem. But just so people who read this thread know, this is why you don't have an antenna. It's integrated into the rear window.
