I just replaced the right-front wheel bearing because the sensor was causing false wheel spin. The bearing itself seemed fine. I'm not sure how changing the bearing would cause the problem, but it's too coincidental.

When doing a moderate to hard turn the wheel shutters as if the tire-rubber is being pulled sideways then "snapping" back on the wet pavement. It seem more intense when reversing.

I think my truck did something like this when I first bought the truck (at 95k miles). Any ideas? How would replacing the bearing/sensor make this happen?

abs light on? or come on during this?

you could unplug a wheel sensor or pull the abs fuse, then drive it to see if it still happens with the abs disabled.

No warning lights. The bearing was replaced due to the wheel sensor making the system think the wheel was spinning at launch, thus engaging the traction control. Since replacing the bearing (with sensor) the false wheel spin issue is cured.

kinda sounds like its in 4wd maybe. if you ever drove in 4 low on dry ground and tried to take a tight turn it makes the front end feel like its binding up. same for 4 hi, only its less of a binding up feel.

the hub swap cant really cause this if you ask me.

I agree, it does feel like it's in 4WD. I had a co-worker drive it while I watched from outside. I didn't see anything unusual or hear anything. The ground was dry by this time, and I think that has something to do with it. The guy that drove it said he did feel it in the steering wheel.

I think I'm going let it go for a little while. This might be a stretch, but it may be the computer has been trained with the bad sensor on the wheel and the AWD system is inadvertently engaging both front wheels.

abs stuff, if the light goes out and stays off its fixed, no learning will go on for abs.

play with the buttons for the 4 low high 2 hi and auto. ive never put mine in auto, maybe it got put there by accident? and its doing it?

a ways back i had a speed sensor in a awd exploder (yeah i spelled that right ) transfer case speed sensor for the awd, the front wheels kept locking up when you turned. not sure if we got that same set up or not. that i would guess would trip a power train code maybe. id have the scanner in hand drive it, make it do what you feel it doing a few times, then scan it engine running still. turning it off can clear a pending code.

Worth a look...check your centerlink for proper orientation. Mine and several others have been installed improperly after work was done to the front end and causes symptoms like what you're describing.

Wow... I'll check it in a few minutes. I've never replaced the drag-link, so if it's wrong it was by the previous owner... or factory!?
