Hey guess looking for some advice. Thinking I might just keep my 20s on for the winter. But I’m considering maybe one size bigger tire to help with my snow driving conditions. My primary concern is having enough tire in between my truck and the road, and a good tire to not get stuck in snow. I’ve found a few sets of tires on craigslist for some pretty good deals. One set is a 275/60/R20 on some new nitto dura grapplers. How much taller is a 275/60 tire compared to my current Michelin LTX 275/55 tire? If I do go this route I will need to go back to Justin at Black Bear and have him adjust for the bigger tire. He just adjusted in my tune for the changeover to 20s from my stock 17. Not too worried about that but I will need to factor that in. Also I know I would need to make a front end change to accommodate that 275/60 tire. Would I be able to accommodate that size with a couple of turns on the front torsion keys? Or is it a more in depth suspension change than that?

The only change to the tune for bigger diameter tires would be for the speedo accuracy. Otherwise it doesn't matter. If you're going to be worried about that every winter then you should have bought the Autocal. Otherwise just try to estimate the speed difference and keep that in mind while driving. I'm not even going to change my tune for the smaller tire I'm running this winter, my speedo is reading slow by about 3 mph at 35 so I figure at 70 I'm actually only going 63 right now. We have radar speed signs here that I can check my speed against.

Yes you are right I should have bought the auto CAL. However unfortunately right now the bigger priority is tires. My current tires are almost out of tread. My 17s have no tires and I can get a good deal on new tires for 20s for the same price. And not have to mess with switching out wheels.

This... my blackbear wasn't able to correct my Speedo. At 70 I'm actually doing 75.

Hell the Speedo in my 87 doesn't even work
Why didn't they correct it with your tune? That's one of the many things they can do. I just don't want to hassle Justin to correct mine and email it to me since I've already had him send me 4 new tunes this year. You just need to provide them with your tire size.

He did correct it in the tune. And when I went from 265/70R17s on my stockers to the 275/55R20 it didn’t affect my speedo. I Navi tells me how fast I’m going. And it lines up with my speedo. And then I checked a CHP street radar that’s over in town and it lined up. The difference was only a 1/4 inch from stock 17s to the newer 20s. Which he confirmed when he did the tune. So I wasnt too worried about. What I meant was if I go from 275/55R20 tires to a slightly bigger 275/60, like I’m considering than I will take it down and have it adjusted, for my piece of mind simply so I know everything is as it should be, because to me that matters. Even if it doesn’t do much in the trucks computer or what not, it’ll still give me peace of mind. But that wasn’t my main question with this thread.

If I go to a 275/60/R20 tire from a 275/55/R20 which is the stock size, what would I need to change in my front end, if anything, to accommodate the bigger tires and not have any rubbing anywhere?
