Kind of hard to tell where the ticking is coming from. I don't leave it running at idle--so it's hard to tell. I doubt the pick up is clogged, as oil did squirt out of the oil pressure sensor hole with the sensor removed. Also there was very, very little debris on the pick up screen.
Everyone makes a valid point. If the bottom is clogged, it would just keep cycling the same oil and add a bad oil pressure sensor in the mix and you’d never be able to tell what’s going on. Verify oil pressure first with a pressure gauge, use mechanics stethoscope or a long pice of metal pipe and property around the engine with your ear to it, to see where the noise is coming from.
ultimately, if it’s worth the investment, I’d say it’s worth a shot, if not, carry on soldier
