Will a coolant temp sensor stop the truck from starting? I'm pretty sure but I just want to double check.
I don’t think it will. Accidentally broke mines once and I started up ok but then again...

Tony, what's broken, the latch on the connector? Are you replacing that pigtail?

I'm gonna replace the sensor itself, but I think he broke the locking tab on the pigtail itself. I was in a rush and I didn't have much time to investigate. There was electrical tape wrapped around the connection of the sensor so that's what I assumed. Sensor could've coincidentally went bad at the moment. Sensor isn't coming til Monday tho.

I think with a bad ECT sensor the truck will start but idle and drive terrible because it reverts to the coldest engine temp settings for fuel and timing. (Not positive tho)

Did you ever check for misfires while driving?

I never even got a chance! I was going to scan it while driving it today. After shutting it down I tried to restart it and it just cranks and cranks. All it's giving me is that coolant temp sensor and a maf code that's been there forever(soft code). Idk what else could cause it not to start. I smelled fuel so it isn't the fuel pump, plus wouldn't I get some kind of code if it was--ckt high/low?
