So even after fixing my CELs by cleaning my throttle body, and replacing my evap canister assembly, my truck still has spells of smelling like gas, and after prolong time sitting its hard to start...A shop confirmed today that the fuel pressure was dropping to 0 after about 10 minutes...Anything else I can check or do before I drop the big bucks on getting the pump replaced :nono:

Fuel pump!! I just had to do mine, for exactly the same reasons. Inspect your fuel lines and tank straps. If they look pretty corroded / rusted, be prepared to replace those too.

Check to see if there are any fuel stains running down the sides of the tank.

Did you do your fuel pump yourself? Think I could do it? Shop quoted me 1k which I'm not paying if it's something I can do myself..

You could, but Ill warn you. On mine, the lock ring was so rusted to the top of the pump, it took about 40 minutes just to get it to release.... with a damn air hammer. Not to mention, the lines coming off the pump, broke off into the plastic intermediate lines that are on the tank, so it took a long ass time to get those broken ends out without damaging the plastic lines (so there wouldn't be any further leaks). Also had one of the cage nuts spin loose getting the straps off, so that had to get cut and replaced too. Once you get the pump out, its easy. There's a little bit of work to get the tank down, and everything detached from it. 2 lines up front, the filler neck tube, you have to move the evap canister out of the way, and i think 2 or 3 lines at the back of the tank.

If you do it on the ground, jack up the rear of the vehicle and leave it high. Make sure there's not much fuel left in the tank too, as little as possible, so its as light as possible. If you end up doing it, TXT me if you have issues. I still have your #.

Damn, that sucks! The locking ring on my Rx8 is a real PITA to get off as well. I know when I replaced my fuel pump the supplier had fabricated a locking ring removal tool that worked extremely well. I wonder if any parts stores would have the special tool that the dealerships use for those locking rings for rent or something like that.

Anyways when I did my RX8 the supplier sent a tool he had fabricated for the locking ring for a downpayment; then once I was done I shipped it back and got my money back. Wonder if there are any suppliers here that would have the same thing (or would even rent you the actual dealership tool)?

Check the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose off of it and verify you don't have fuel in that hose. If so, replace the FPR.
