I am considering purchasing a 2017 Yukon Denali. It’s a one owner with 117,000 miles on it. According to the carfax oil was changed and tires rotated at normal times. The torque converter was replaced at 50,000 and 95,0000. I don’t see any fluid changes on the carfax. Would you purchase this vehicle? I would also have a comprehensive warranty for 60,000 miles.

The torque converters have issues on this body style and if they replaced it with the same factory converter then that’s probably why it’s been changed twice now. Upgrading the converter to a good billet style converter should fix the issue

Then all you gotta worry about is the lifter issues lol

The warranty is good. Those 8-speeds were a pain but most bugs and issues have been worked out by now. Do you like any 2018s? They had 10-speeds.

8 speed? hard no
bump up to the 18, they have the 10 speed
if you can swing a 17 you can swing a 18

I would be concerned about the condition of the transmission after 2 torque converter failures, since when a torque converter fails, it usually floods the transmission with metal particles.

Replaced my TC with a CTS-V TC , and had a lifter fail @ 70k lol you are right in the money

Agree, go with the 18 if you can. I had a TC go on my 6 speed, so that meant a whole new tranny. Not fun. I heard there is a class action lawsuit on some of GM's transmission. I know its for the 8 speed, but hope maybe the 6 speeds will be included. Seems to be a very common issue, so much the transmission shop has these transmission ready to ship as they do a few every month.

Son's 6l transmission completely failed at 105K miles. Some slight warning that we thought was a load of bad gas, felt like a slight misfire at easy cruise. Transmission shop said he used to make a living with Dodges, now it's 90% GM and several a week. That was a big expense for a rural school teacher with three kids.
