First, charge the battery fully. Then, disconnect the battery, let it sit for 15 minutes to let the system "reboot."

Jump starting introduces wild voltage and current fluctuations. Sometimes the electronics get unhappy.

the tow haul button provides a temporary ground to the bcm when the button is pressed and key is on, so I would suspect the wire is grounded somewhere and is automatically activating when you turn the key on. if you remove the plastic shroud around the ignition then you can follow the wire from the bottom of the shifter lever under the steering column to where it plugs in. It is 2 wires unplug it where it plugs in then turn then start it up and see if the light is out, if so then the wire is shorted between there and the shifter usually the wire just breaks and you have no tow haul function.

it's possible the battery being dead could have made the bcm go goofy so like bill said try disconnecting the battery first for few minutes and see if it just resets

Remove both battery cables and touch their ends together; that will wipe out any residual memory, too.
