Towing 18ft boat(3500lb load), I have an 2004 Tahoe now with a 5.3 and I don't think any less motor could comfortablel pull it. Looking at 2016 and 17s now. With 6spd trans, do you think smaller motor 4.3l could pull this rig on flat land and about 1 or 2 160miles round trips a month

Both the 2016 and 2017 Tahoes have the 5.3L V8 and if I'm not mistaken rated to tow 8,300lbs.

You will have no problem. I just sold my '04 Tahoe Z71 with 5.7 and I used it to tow a 24' boat that weighed 3880 dry, close 5000 loaded and I couldn't even feel it behind my Tahoe.

I realize the 5.3 and Z71 are slightly different packages but the 5.3 will tow 3500 lbs with ease.

I tow my 28' boat that its 7500 loaded and it pulls it no problem. I have the max trailer package which makes a big difference.

Like stated above, they dont make a 4.3 tahoe. But the new 4.3 silverados will suprise you with the power they have. My grandpa has a 15' with a 4.3 and he tows a 14' enclosed trailer with his trike in it (3500-4000 trike and trailer combined depending on luggage) down to pigeon forge, Tennessee about 3 times a year. Even through the mountains itll maintain speed no problem.

Thks, I thought the 4.3 was an option in the tahoe, but as you stated, it is not . so, I'm going with the tahoe cause of the more comfortable ride and the 5.3
