towing issue

My 2007 holds lower gears for longer in tow/haul mode than my 2012 does. How heavy is your boat?

It's a little heavy I know.. But that's why I've done alot of things in my build to handle it. I used to tow it with my
1994 stepside chevy 1500 (of course modified)
The camper is 7700lbs dry weight. So I figure with all the contents, gear, etc I'm about 9K
I've got the Stabil-I-Zer big WD hitch with the sway control built in it. It actually tows pretty decent except for
my fuel mileage. Just did a 550 mile roundtrip over Memorial Weekend
