We are looking at a 20 and a 24 foot enclosed trailer. Our yukon has the 3.73 gears in it and I would be adding the trailer braking system and a transmission cooler. I have a few questions though...

Will our yukon be able to pull the weight of the trailer, plus about 4-6 atvs inside? We live in Kansas and I was going to do the tru 40 cooler, but will I need the bypass? The wife drives it maybe 5 miles a day just taking the kids to school and picking them up. It is kept inside the garage, but I'm sure temps will dip close or under 0 degrees. I know with the wind chill it definitely will.

With the trailer braking system, what all is needed for that? Do I just need to get the module for it?

Your Tahoe should tow it just fine. You may want to look at getting air bags like the airlift 1000. Depending how cold it gets in your area you may want a bypass for your transmission oil cooler. For the trailer brake all you need is the wire harness and the module. The wire harness is under the dash ready to be wired up. They are easy and come with easy instructions.

It gets to the teens or lower on some days. What would be the bad to not get a bypass? We got a 24 footer and with about an hour of driving, trans temp got as high as 225 on a 90 degree day....so we definitly need a cooler.

Ours didn't come with a stock cooler, so do I just get the one plug to screw into the top of the radiator...run that to the trans cooler and the other end of the trans cooler to the piece that use to go the the top of the radiator???? Those lines are leaking anyways, so I will need to go back to where the hose turns into the hard line.

i dont know the individual weights of the atv's but i always recomend loading everything up lon the trailer like you were takin a weekend trip and go have the trailer weighed
i think the tahoe/yukons towing capacity is like 8000 lbs the total weight of the trailer should be like 2000 lbs under that loaded its never wise to pull yer max towing capactity that puts tremendous strain on the tranny and brakes and suspension

I was pulling a big 24ft pontoon on a 30ft trailer. Got up to 228 in low 90 degree weather. I assumed I had the oem trans cooler on mine. Was going to put in a bigger one following the "Upgrade OEM Transmission Cooler" thread. Got all the stuff, took off the bumper, whoops no cooler! Returned all the stuff and found this on youtube,
. Once all the new stuff came, took about 30 mins. Hardest part is that little clip ring holding the trans line in the radiator. Temps haven't broken 190 yet.

I found one with a bypass for only 30 bucks more, so I might just go with it. Can't be that hard to put the bypass in and snug it tight somewhere.

Vermtown - Did you go with the TruCool 40K like everyone else?

ah ok. I read on the bypass for the 40 that is passes the cooler til it warms to 180 degrees.....it would probably never reach that in the winter so it will always bypass the cooler
