TPMS sensors

Looking at buying new take off rims and tires for my ‘05 Tahoe. They come ready to Bolton, including lug nuts. These would be from a 2018. Would the 2018, TPMSsensors work? Or would I have to install sensors for an ‘05? Or maybe programs something?

No they will not my wheels came off a new GMC couldn't get mine to pair i tired. I believe they changed in 2007.

Agreed they won’t work. I believe they change with every platform ie 03-06, 07-14 etc.

depends:
check your glove box for rpo codes
xl7 is 315mhz
xl8 is 433mhz
then you will need to know what the mhz was of the truck the wheels came off of to know if they will work with your truck or not
the 2018's no longer a have a rpo list in the glove box so you will have to either scan the QR code or look at the build sheet
if the mhz do not match they wont work, if they match they should work

Hmmm my 08 Silverado has neither of those RPO’s. I just looked up the info on the new ones I just bought and it says they’re 315 MHz and the application chart says 08-18 Tahoe’s Silverados etc.

The RPO on my '04 appears to be UJ6 (Low Tire Press Indicator), if I'm reading that right. 315 MHz.

uj6 I believe just means you have tpms, I think most of the older trucks are mostly 315mhz though anyway it probably would show in your build sheet the freq

also I think the only difference in a 315mhz sensor from 1999 versus one from 2108 is if it fits in the wheel or not, hense different part numbers and they could be strapped to the wheel if it wont fit anyway. but i could be wrong but iv'e never read anything that says different, a tpms sensor syncs up and has a serial number that registers to the receiver that way it's not picking up random sensors from other cars driving on the road next to you. most are either 315mhz or 433mhz with the later being used mostly in Europe
