According to my owners manual, there is an 8 wire hookup under the back end in front of the rear bumper mounted to the crossmember for a trailer brake. What is this and how is it used? Does this thing have some kind of a built in trailer brake or is it a wiring harness make installing an aftermarket brake easier?

If you have a trailers with electric brakes, you will need a brake controller in order to activate the brakes properly. I ran a single wire to the rear and spliced it into the electric brake spot on a 7-way blade connector. Then find the brake light only wire under the dash and connect to the controller and run a power and ground wire to the battery. I have had no problems since I hooked it up.
