tranny swap questions

i am wondering if i can put a 2wd tranny in my 4wd if so what is needed for the swap, option 2 is can i remove the tcase and install a 2wd tailshaft and drive shaft. The reason for this is transfer case is making noise and the front and rear have different ratios so there is no driveshaft, money is tight so i want to fix it cheap for now

Might be cheaper to find a transfer case from craigslist from someone parting a tahoe/yukon out.
