thats what I am hoping. the tranny shop is concernerd with the current set up due to the fact that it is an electronic transmission and the motor does not send out any sinals it is a stand alone computer and was meant to bolt to a 460l not the 460le.. I might be searching for a stand alone tranny computer. any one have any good leads on this type of thing?

If you have an 4L60e in a truck that is supposed to have the non electronic version, it should not have worked at all. What year is your truck?

The stand alone computers are a piece of cake. I have been using them for many years.

If your truck just uses the TV cable from the throttle it might be cheaper and easier to swap out the 60e for a 60.

It helps the diagnosis to know what year truck you have and what kind of mods have been made. :)

95t- My rig is a 97 so it came with and is wired for the 4l60E. the problem comes from the motor swap. the ram jet 350 was intended to be a motor to go in old hot rods and rock crawlers. It has 350hp and 400ft. # of torque. While it is a grate motor it was never designed with the intent of swapping into a newer truck. Right now I have two computers running the stock one telling the tranny what to do and the on that came with the motor telling the motor what to do. the problem lies in the fact that the motor is not telling the tranny where the throttle is. or that seems to be the fear of the tranny shop. personal I think this was resolved. when I bought it she ran like a rapped ape. nice firm shifts and 0- 80 in no time. the more research I do the more I think it is a broken spring or bad solenoid. but then again what the hell do I know..lol

They must have added a throttle position sensor to the crate motor. In some models the mass air flow sensor was also used to determine shift points. Most of the shifting though, depends on that throttle position sensor.

There is a chance that if they had to improvise a mount for the TPS, it might need some adjustment or ?

The TPS should have three wires. It should have +5 going in and 0 to +5 on the output. I would start checking there.

The other potential problem might be what they did to share signals between the two computers. You might have some connection problems. Where did they put the second computer and how do the connections look?

OK time to update- I have been schooled in the tranny dept. my rig now has a built to the tilt 700R4 tranny. the original tranny (4L60) while built well had just seen too much horse power for to long. the actual failure came from the pin that holds the band in place breaking but upon tear down the trans clearly showed signs of wear. so after looking at all the options and how everything was going to go back in I decided to go with the 700R4 It mated well to the ram jet and met all the requirement with out all the crazy computer controlled madness that would need to be done to work with the ram jet.
the new trans has everything and I do mean everything corvette servos and booster pump, billet servos for 3-4, hd band, hd Kevlar clutch packs, 5 pinion front and rear planaterys, new hd sprags and more I know I'm missing stuff but I basically told the builder I wanted to step on the throttle and never ever think about hurting it. when I picked it up the builder was laying patches in the parking lot. when he handed the keys over he said if you can break that thing ill fix it at no charge... lol so that the update. the Rat rod is back on the road and that makes me very happy. now to get that damn rat off the side..
