Hey guys. I have a 2011 Denali and I want to do my trans cooler lines and trans service. I have the knp rpo but not the k5L and I verified an external cooler. Just wondering if the cooler indicates hd cooling or not. Also, if there is an internal trans filter or just the spin on one? And what fluid is recommended. Thanks in advance.

K5L also specifies a larger radiator. The transmission has a filter/pickup screen in the pan, not a spin on filter. It is a pain to change and most dealerships do not do them anymore; doing a flush and exchange instead. It works very well. The transmission takes Dexron VI fluid. 12.4 quarts doing an exchange and 6 quarts if you drop the pan.
