depends on how you drive and if you are towing anything or not
mine would run 220 all the time because I have a heavy foot
gm has updated the thermostat to a lower temp, the original was 180deg, I believe the new one is 160? not 100% sure
at any rate I bypassed mine, added a trucool 40k and B&M deep transmission pan and it now runs around 140-165 even with my heavy foot.
I would be concerned if it was reaching 230deg or more, opinions vary on what is ok and what is not ok. temp wise.

That temp is ok, nothing to worry about. Mine usually runs about 150 and that is with my heavy foot. Was the day much hotter? Driving harder than normal? Stop and go traffic?

The old trans thermostat was 194 and the new upgraded one is 154.

I paid close attention to mine yesterday driving around town and on the Beltline where hiway speed is allowed. Never got above 140 degrees and that is with me driving it pretty hard.
