Hello Gents...I'm new to the forum, and need some advice...I'm looking to buy a 99 Tohoe here from a Ford dealer...it's four wheel drive and in great shape with only 109k on it...It has some small issues that are not a big deal...the big deal is the 4X4 does not work...is this a major drive line problem or an electronic problem. the truck drives fine and makes no noises.. I really want the truck, but don't have an extra grand for a new transfer case at this time....what do you guys think it could be?

:welcome: 4x4 issues on 1999 are easier to diagnose because the transfer case control module can give out diagnostic codes. Do you have specifics on how it does not work?

My transfercase cost me $100 at my local junkyard with a front driveshaft included in the deal. It's not that big of a problem if you do need one just call your local junkyard and makesure you know what type it is.

Ouch that sucks the dealers never want to lose but I know for a fact that if they can't sell it hen they will sell it at yur local dealer only auto auction and will sell it for 1/3 of what they tried to sell it to you. I used to be in the dealer scene so if you have a friend that has a dealer license then go to the auctions with them and find a really nice truck for a really cheap price.

Info like were they are? I said unless you know someone that has a dealer then you can't enter or buy from there and your buddy should know since they most likely buy for more inventory. I would also look on google to see if you can find one but again no dealer license then no entry nor purchase. Usually it's Tuesday's in my town but may differ in your town

It's been a few days due to out of state company, but I did pick up a black 98 Tahoe last Tuesday...It has a 144K, and everything works...including the four wheel drive. Plan on putting a lift on it with 33" tires, removing the running boards, and body side moldings. Already pulled the fuse on the DRL. Going to be a fun truck once I get it set up the way I want it.
