I have a 2000 Tahoe with some 4x4 issues. Right now all my 4x4 lights flash and im stuck in neutral. How do i fix this?

I already checked the ATC fuse which was good and i just replaced the Transfer Case Motor. It was in 4 Low and would not switch and now its back to Neutral.

I had this happen on my truck... I turned my truck off, let it sit a while, pushed the 2WD button and it went back to normal. I called the stealership and they said it was a bad solenoid. That was 2 years ago, and it has not happened since and I use the low function often.

I was told that it could be the transfer case shift module located under the dash by the fuse box. The only thing is this costs $500 and i was wondering if there is a way to check if this is working properly. Anyone know what im talking about?

it's not under the dash, it probably is the shift motor under the vehicle on the side of the transfer case and I do not know if you can see it physically move without taking it out of the transfer case.

Did you ever change the fluid inside of the transfer case?

Chances are if you have problems with it once, you will have problems with it again.

I would try to turn the key on, but do not start the truck. Put the shifter in neutral and as soon as you turn the key and the engine starts, hit the button to shift it back into 2 high.

i have a 05 Tahoe LT. I am in the same boat. I replaced the encoder motor. Once everything was back together and turned it on its in neutral, red light. I tried putting it in 2hi and it just blinks and remains in neutral. Also, I try to shift the transmission and it won't go into any gear. When I put it back to park it makes a ratcheting noise. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with my 2007 Yukon. What was the solution? I ordered an encoder ring for my old motor hoping its just a bad unit.

when this happened on my 2004, it was the encoder motor. if you are handy with a wrench and need the truck to work now, remove the encoder motor (4-6 bolts if my memory services me), take a pair of needle nose pliers and reach in and grab the item that looks like a bolt with two ends shaved flat, and turn until it clicks, then go back in and see what setting your switch says you are in. repeat until you get it right. you can turn both clockwise and counter clockwise from neutral. This will allow you to manually shift it back into two wheel high this way.

I am having an issue with my 4 wheel drive. I have a 2003 Tahoe Z71 with a 5.3L engine. I was getting the service 4 wheel drive on my dash. I changed the encoder, the tccm and the switch. The service 4 wheel drive notice is gone but now it's stuck in neutral... No matter how I push the button for 2H with the ignition on or off. I have disconnected the battery trying to reset the system but that's a no go as well. I have checked the fuses they seem to be good. I have ran out of options and the Internet don't have too much on the problems I am having... I will forever greatful for any and all advice that can lead me in the right directions.
Thanks in advance.
