transmission problem.

hi i just bought a 99 tahoe about 2 months ago and the problem im having is the truck runs great and tranny shifts smooth and everything but every once in a while while im driving in 3rd gear around 50 mph when the tranny goes to shift from 3rd to 4th i feels like a slight jerking in the tranny..... now if i let go of the gas or give it more gas it goes away????? is this something serious that i should have repaired or is this something minor like a solenoid or something there is no check engine light on or anything so thats why i came here to ask some pros... any help would be great and should i stop driving the truck... thanks in advance.

have the tranny shop drop the pan, look for any material...

I'll I would just check the color of the trans fluid. Doesn't sound like much to me trannys actually shift better an smoother at certain rpms. Its got somthing. To do with the clutches engaging and disengaging to make for an smooth shift in between gears it might just be the way u drive. My only question is when u said u hit the gas and it doesn't do it are u giving it enough gas to where the overdrive kicks in?

lol its def not the way i drive but look when i start out the tranny shifts smooth from first to second then shifts smooth from second to third but then at about 45-50 mph or 2k rpm like on a highway just cruising it feels like when its going from third to fourth the tranny is jerking in between gears... its almost like it doesnt want to go into fourth so if i let go of the gas and just let it roll it stops jerking and if i accelerate while its doing it of coarse the rpms go up and it stops but i think its just throwing it back into third gear when i accelerate... its weird but def know why the people i bought it off of sold it...it doesnt do it all the time and stop and go traffic around town when i only get upto 35-40 mph it doesnt do it at all?

It could be a problem with one of the shift solenoids. Either way, you will want to check the fluid and maybe have a transmission person look at it.

It sounds like a problem with the converter lockup control circuit. there are a few tranny codes that will not light up the CEL light but can be retrieved from the PCM as a stored code.
