Hi All,

I have a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. As the title states, my transmission slips while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Right as it is about to shift into 3rd, RPMs just jump and it slips completely for a few seconds until it goes into 3rd. It is very noticeable while driving uphill.

I had my mechanic flush the transmission fluid completely and nothing changed. He suggested a rebuild for at least $1,500. What other things can be done other than a rebuild? I can buy a remanufactured transmission from ETE possibly? Does anyone know of any good sites to order remanufactured transmissions from?

Is a remanufactured transmission recommended over a rebuild?

Another use also mentioned solenoids a or b. Could someone please explain what these do, and if it is a possibility that a solenoid replacement can solve my problem?

Thank you all in advance.

Bumping this!
Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, what course of action did you take?
Thank you!

Did you have any codes? Check engine light?

Assuming your mechanic performed a proper diagnosis to come to his concluion, I assume he had facts to work with. Check Engine Lights will illuminate for some transmission issues since transmission issues can affect the engine's ability to control emissions.

No codes. I just get the flare when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd. I'm thinking it is the clutch assembly.

How many miles on the tranny? Did you get to see/smell the fluid before he flushed it?

Mine would do the same thing. It started from 2nd to 3rd. I could minimize it by feathering the throttle when it shifted. Within a year it would slip no matter what gear it was shifting to. I had mine rebuilt, so far so good.

Apologies for the delayed response. So the decision was made to rebuild the transmission. The rebuilt went well except for one problem....it still slips. So now we are thinking it is a computer issue? My mechanic also swapped in a transmission without any problems, and the shifting still slips from 2-3.

At this point I am assuming it is an electrical issue. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance

electrical issues solenoids dont cause transmission slips
wow just so were clear yer saying yer tranny was rebuilt and it still revs up going from 2 to 3rd wich isnt really a slip a transmission slip is when its in a gear and the gear wont hold either from severely worn friction material il the clutch pack or low tranny fluid or lack of pressure
what tranny is 4l60E? 65E?

The transmission was rebuilt and it is still slipping from 2-3. It is a 4L60E. Any ideas?

Does the A4 have a purge like the A6? Do you have a custom tune?

Did a fast learn on my 6 today along with a flash to base trans tune and my transmission shifts way better now. Was flaring like crazy on 1-2, 2-3. Torque management is now ridiculous aggressive though.
