Purchased used 6l80 transmission out of 2009 Escalade for my 2009 Tahoe. Is there anything I need to do with the TCM or is it fine to go the way it is?

You will need to have the transmission's TCM programmed to your VIN.

Yes, the TCM is inside of the transmission for my 07 Yukon XL Denali.
Let me ask this. I have my old transmission that went out. Can that TCM be installed on the one I purchased? Can I take the TCM to the dealer itself to be done or are they going to need the whole vehicle

Yes it can.
But keep in mind the pressure switches in the teccm could have been the cause of the transmission failure.

The litle sealing discs are known to start splitting with age, and then the tcm sees this as low pressure so it gives you all the pressure.

The unit is plastic, and attached to the bottom of the transmission.

Lots of youtube videos covering the removal of the valve body and teccm (I'm probably spelling that wrong).

Mike_oat, check out my thread above on rebuilding the pressure switches in the TECHM in my 2013 Escalade 6L80E transmission.

Nicely done thread!

I did the same to my valve body when i first got my tahoe.

Mostly used transgo stuff from their shift kit, but added their converter valves on top of it.

If you're still seeing slippage, shift flare, and/or a delay in reverse.

There is a documented issue with the 4-5-6 drum and piston.
Cracks and leaks.
That drum sits right behind the pump.

I'm about to pull my pump here in the next few weeks to inspect it for damage...

Got some trash in my cooler line, looked like a piece of either converter or pump. lol

I believe it helped to take out a thrust bearing on a brand new engine build.

I also installed a cooler line filter, had i had it in place to begin, i wouldn't be replacing the crankshaft right now... lol
