So for the last few days the trans has been acting real weird. asolutely no no pick up off the line and revs real high anything over say 50mph leaving me to deduct that 1st and Id aren't working and when I shift from 1 to second therea no obvious shift but from second to third I feel the obvious shift but from 3rd to over drive nothing again leaveing me to deduct 1st and od are gone. I read possibly speed sensors I dropped new ones in to no.avail. anyhjng u can try before I got trans mission shopping

1999 Yukon 4x4 auto transmission approx 170k miles if I'm leaveing out any of the needed info lemme.know I'm.just a lil pissed right now about this. Thanks for.the help ahead of time

Sound like the sun shell is striped. It's a know weak point in the 4L60's. If so time for a rebuild. Is this a 4x4? Let sun post up to make sure. If it is the sun shell go with "The Beast" and rebuild it your self. Save the money and get bigger, stronger, and bas parts. To rebuild the trany it's not that hard and there are places where you can get a DVD walk throu.

i am having trouble understanding a bit of what you are saying. you are saying only 1 and overdrive. what about torque converter lockup. what happens if you select the gears manually. what works and what does not? manual second, third and reverse?

If it's first and OD failing it's not the sunshell, really doesn't matter what it is, if it's not electrical it needs a full rebuild. There is a better sunshell then the Beast now a days.

So essentially rebuild or replace are my options most likely

Quote "transmissionmision is either in limp-home mode or has lost electrical power. If there are lots of error codes in the PCM, check the underhood fuse that powers the Transmissionmission, and if it pops again, look for a short in that circuit like an O2 sensor harness touching exhaust. Otherwise, check PCM codes for a particular fault in the Transmissionmission causing the PCM to put it in limp-home mode."

And put "sir" and beginning and ending of all sentences to him ;) I know there is a better sun shell out there now but for a all mostly stock rebuild of a trany the beast is still the better choice. If they can run it in a drag car with no problems i think our hoes would be no problem :waytogo:
