That Formula was probably close to 15K pounds and I was surprised how well the 5.3 2wd pulled it, even launching and loading...no problem. Thankfully the trailer had good brakes...that boat felt like a freight train rolling behind me! LOL!

Maybe. The horsepower was nearly the same, the peak torque was lowered 400 rpms with VVT. I reckon the biggest difference was the transmission. For even with a 4.10 gear behind the 4L65 the final drive in 1st gear was only 12.54:1 compared with 13.77:1 for a 2009+ with the 6L80 and 3.42 gear. Most folks however had the 3.73 gear which was 11.41:1 just to get the load moving.
A mileage comparison between years shows the big difference coming with VVT, not the 6-speed. VVT was a great addition to these engines. By using it, GM changed the camshaft from a single pattern to dual pattern with more duration.

Come on, you gotta show pics...the 29 is my second Wellcraft, had my first that was a 22 in 97, was a fun boat, and it hauled ass, way faster than the 29.
