I have a 2004 Z71 Tahoe. Every time I crank the truck, the light on the 4wd switch is either in 2wd or the red neutral light is on. It seems to be random whichever light is on. The truck seems to operate normally at this point, but after driving for a while and shutting the truck off, it will change either to one of the above, or to 4wd low. It's not just the light, the truck is actually in 4wd low. I have changed the switch and the actuator, but the problem persists. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks.

Nope. It should be in 2wd. When it goes into low, it stays there. Pushing any of the buttons does nothing, they just flash for about 45 seconds then go out.

Have your transfer case encoder motor and sensor checked out. Very common problem. I let mine go for too long ended up costing me $1100 to replace the motor, sensor and a shift fork in the Transfer Case.
