Received my truck vault for the back of the suburban yesterday. I haven't had a chance to install it yet, but so far very impressed with the build quality. Hopefully I'll get it installed tonight and will have some pics too.

Okay, excuse my "Noobness", but what is a truck vault? Is it one of those flat tool chests that have one big slide out drawer?

It can be different sizes, but essentially yes.

Yes, it is, but the number of drawers can vary. Here is the website: http://www.truckvault.com/ . While I have a different brand installed in my Tahoe, the drawer makes a Tahoe a very functional vehicle, unless you have a need to carry around a bunch of crying little brats. :baby: Thank God I don't have that problem! :)

Went to that website. WOW are those expensive! I'm sure they are top quality but a little over my budget. My buddy used to have one but it wasn't as fancy as those and much cheaper. It sure would be handy to have though. Anybody have any other brand names to check out?

My buddy's is a Weather Guard. Can be found at weatherguard.com

He loves it and is a quality unit. The website doesn't give fitment guides for suv's though, only pickups.

Tuffy "Tactical Gear Security Drawer" is another option, which is the one I went with. But it isn't cheap at all. Here's the topic on my purchase and installation: http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26058

If I ever purchase another SUV, I'll put another Tuffy unit in the SUV immediately. I am extremely satisfied with it!!!!! :)

While we're discussing storage solutions, let me tell you one you DON'T want to look at, and it's the GM "Cargo Organizer", which I installed in my 2010 Tahoe shortly after I purchased it, but took out after I purchased the Tuffy drawer.

Shown below is a picture of the GM "Cargo Organizer" I once upon a time had. On a scale of 1 to 100, I'd rank that thing about a 5. Whoever designed it spent 99.99% of his or her time making it fit perfectly inside a shipping box with no unused space, and I'd give the person 100% for that effort. But the thing is almost useless for storage and won't stay together as stuff shifts around in it, so I'd say the designer spent about 00.01% of his or her time making it useful. :fca5278d:

The day I put the GM "Cargo Organizer" in the trash can was a very good day indeed! :)

So how did the install go? If it went O.K., show us a picture or two or three! And if it didn't go O.K., tell us what happened.

The storage units are a neat addition to a SUV, but it's darn-near impossible to find posts and pictures from people who actually installed them. So, post away! :)
