Hey forum, first-time poster. I recently bought a 2003 Yukon SLE with 162K miles. When I take off from a dead stop it takes off like it's in a low gear. It shifts to the proper gear within 30 seconds. The car runs fine on the freeway. If I start in 2nd gear it takes off normal. when I shift from 2nd to 3rd it jumps a little. Shifting from 3rd to Drive is smooth. I was going to swap the TCC sensor, change the filter, and flush fluid. When I say flush I will not use an exchange machine but instead, remove via the cooling line. My questions are, does this sound like a good first step? If yes what is the recommended fluid type using today's fluids on the market? I was considering Redline D4 but it's a little pricey. The car is not my daily driver. It's more of fishing, hunting, and camping vehicle.

Thanks all!

What color is the fluid? the darker red the more worn and burnt. I would also change the filter after you do the change. Before putting in the pricey oil, I would use some maxlife first, if it clears up then do another change down the road. My 2003 yukon tranny went at 157K, I had it rebuilt.

That's a great idea Zmann96, thanks. The fluid is actually lighter than I anticipated, almost too light. It doesn't smell burnt either. If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much did it cost you to rebuild your transmission?
