Chronological steps to achieve this:

1) Exhaust System (even just a muffler... ex: Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa) and Cold Air Intake (ex: K&N, Volant, AIRAID)

2) BB Tune (AutoCal)

BAM! 1-2MPG increase.

Any idea how much all that cost? If you spend ... let say $600 on the upgrades, its going to take a long time for the 2mpg to pay off the upgrades. But then again you will have more preformace at the same time. Hard to say what to do.

If you could afford it I would opt to do all 3. Deffinently worth it. You will be happy in the end.

Magnaflow muffler 12589 cost me 100 shipped.

Airaid air filter/heat shield/modular intake tube cost average 200-300 shipped. Got mine for 170 after a little hunting.

BB tune autocal will cost you around $550 although going to a BB Tune meet is 250 but you don't get the autocal tuner to change back to stock if you go to dealership for other issues. This is the biggest part of the equation.

All three will cost on average $800 total (well spent). 1-2 MPG increase is only a bonus compared to the other amenities the BB Tune/AutoCal has to offer.

Aren't the MPG gains diminished by the urge to stomp the pedal more to experience the performance gains? ;) At least that's what I have been seeing around the forums.

With that said, I still need a CAI and/or tune!

Haha yes if you want to throw in that extra factor. What I -MEANT- to say was, if you drive in the same manor that you would prior to those 3 mods, then you would see gains in MPG... that's the plan anyways lol.

it sounds like your tires are too big/heavy, and you need gears to overcome that weight.

if you set the cruise on flat land does it drop into V4 mode?

i can get 3 more MPG than my wife, by using the cruise constantly...

depends on your geographical location, too. Higher altitude with less dense air, it helps to have an improved intake. Lower elevation with denser air, it helps to have a better exhaust to help with the increased back pressure. I've got all 3 and really like the improvements, both HP and MPG.
