I had exhaust tips coming out the back on my 2002 tahoe with a flowmaster 40 series muffler when i bought it. i cut the tips off about 3 or 4 inches past the muffler. My question is will it make the sound deeper if i have turndowns put on so that the sound hits the ground?

Not sure about on a tahoe, but I had a fox body 5.0 mustang with an o/r X-pipe and dual flowmaster 40's and it was quite a bit louder before I put dumps on it. I liked the way it sounded better without the dumps. In fact I have a 40 series i'm planning on puttin on my 01 hoe and have no plans of putting a turn down on it.

If you want a "deeper" sound, put a larger diameter tip in it. Or possibly turn downs would help.
