When you refresh do you notice any rust trying to creep back through from behind the paint?

I just used semigloss paint. I wire brushed the heavy stuff off, then soap and water witha stiff bristle brush for the rest. Once it was dry I brush painted the frame, springs and axle, sprayed the wheel wells. came out great, I touch it up every spring after the salting is done.

You just use regular semigloss paint out of a can? Do you know what brand and where you get it from? There are some parts that I want to spray but I am also going to need a brush for some of it. Thank!

I'd use some cheaper version of por15, Rustoleum by the qt would do the same and 1/5 of the price. But do use either por15's metal ready or phosphoric acid to neutralize the rust. That will basically zinc coat the rust/metal

wow you guys are spoiled with your non rusty trucks! haha i live in New Hampshire, and i work in my dads autobody shop, we got 4 chevy plow trucks, all 90's body style, a 1999 GMC Suburban, and my 99 hoe. We sandblast the whole underneath, frame, wheel wells, rockerpanels, suspension, brake lines, fuel lines, and coat with Duplicolor Truck bed coating. drys hard, and stays good for a few years, we do the whole fleet once a year just to keep them clean.

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about that rust, heck there is still paint in some spots! My Hoe has more under carriage rust then that!

But living up in the great white north rust is all too common, what I do and most people do is oil spray the crap out of it! Every inch, you will prevent rust but the next time you work underneath it you get covered in crap, LOL. We oil spray once or twice a year.

Its not worth painting everything unless it won't see winter at all, because its a matter of time until the salt eats at it again.

Ok so the best would be to use Por15 to neutralize the rust and then paint it with basically any kind of coating??
