My 2005 Yukon didnt come with a underhood light. How hard would it be to get one from GM and wire it in? Its sorta annoying when its dark and i open the hood and cant see anything

I don't see it being too difficult. They usually come with a built in switch so connect it to constant power and ground it on the firewall.

If there is a plug, it should be located between center and drivers side right at the top of the firewall. There should be a ground right there also. If I was by my truck I'd snap a pic.

Well, I was wrong!! The plug is at the light itself, the rest is hard wired into the harness, at least it looks that way!! I included a pic of the light and the second pic is of me pointed at the ground wire for the light that's grounded at the lug! Looks to me that if you got a light from the wrecking yard, it would be best to cut as much of the wire into the harness as you can!
