I have noticed that in my 07 LTZ the airflow from the passenger side vents is not as strong as the drivers side. It doesn't matter if the passenger control is on or off or heat vs. A/C. A few weeks ago the driver side was working correctly but the passenger was blowing very hot no matter what the actual temp was set on. I reset the HVAC by disconnecting the battery and it seemed to fix the temp issue but not the airflow. Any ideas? Any way to check the actuators that control each side to see if one is hung up? Thanks

AC blowing hot

I was having the same issue with my wife's 08 LTZ. I posted a question about it on here.... I need to follow up with this reply... I ended up bringing the truck in for servicing and while it was there they scanned it for a update and it needed one. Our truck has 50k miles and was out of warranty but my service adviser had it reprogrammed for FREE.... Since then we haven't had any problems with it.... its fixed .. blowing cold and even air flow out of both sides :headbang:

HVAC temp and airflow issues

I have a 2013 GMC Sierra SLT with dual climate control. The air from the passenger side vents is about 8 degrees warmer than the drivers side vents and the airflow from the passenger side dash vents is about 75 percent of the flow from the drivers side. I have had the truck to the dealer several times for this. Each time they replace something and tell me it's fixed. I get the truck back only to find the problem was not corrected. I was told by the dealer there are no updates for my truck. The truck is at the dealer as we speak waiting for a blend door actuator and a climate control head, the latest parts to be thrown at the problem with the hope that it may start working correctly. Time will tell I guess. I find it hard to believe that Motor City GMC in Bakersfield, Ca, a large dealership, has not run across this problem before. Or if they have, the other customers were satisfied with their original answer to me which was, "They all do that." My VIN is 3GTP1VE0586371185. If you have any technical advice or are aware of an update for the climate control system I would be happy to hear about it. Although I really like the truck aside from the A/C issue, I'm getting ready to look into my options under the Lemon Law. I don't understand why this problem is so hard to diagnose with all of the "Factory trained technicians" at the dealership and the engineers at GM.

uneven airflow

Hi Jennifer. I got my truck back yesterday. The passenger temperature is better but the airflow problem is still there. Darrel Shinn, the client services manager has been very patient with me and has tried several things to resolve the issue without success. I am doing my own research as well. I am able to get good airflow from the passenger side vents if I remove the hvac fuse and let the actuators calibrate but the calibration onlystays until I shut off the truck. A calibration at the dealer with a scan tool does not change the air flow. The dealer is stumped on this.

Hmm. I'm getting a simliar issue where I can't get air to the vents after driving around for 45 minutes or so. Start to hear a noise like the air is being blocked by something behind the dash (blend door?). Occasionally I can get it working again by maxing out the fan speed and tinkering with the recirc but more often than not it does not fix the problem. Dealer couldn't find anything so they replaced the blower motor but that obviously didn't solve the problem.

I also just noticed yesterday that my rear HVAC is backwards with the ceiling vents and floor vents. If I set it to blow up high it comes out the bottom and vice versa.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is because I swapped out the HVAC control head with a different one that isn't the right model for my Suburban. The new one I swapped has the "EXT" temp displayed on it whereas the original did not. I am going to try to swap the old one back in and see if the problem goes away.

I am not sure if this will fix your problem but I ran into this same problem recently with my 07 LTZ.

Here is what happened to me.
1) The buttons were worn on my original unit, so I went out and looked for a new unit ( I found a brand new unit for $100 )
2) The New unit has a different part number than the original unit, I was told that the new part number replaced the old part number. the most obvious difference between the two (other than part number) was the top right button reads aux on the original and back on the new one, and I had the outside temp on the unit, as well as the outside temp on my mirror (they never read exactly the same, go fig)
3) I installed the new unit without any issue, plugged right in, I drove around for a few days. Then my wife and myself went for a date and she started messing with the AC blower, and all of a sudden it sounded like the fan was blowing hard, but I had no air, it had that sound of a blower in a box with no where for the air to go. We ate dinner and the problem was gone until we got to the theater. When we came back out it was fine until we got home and it started all over again...
4) I removed the new unit, took the buttons off and installed them on the old unit, and put the old unit back in with the new buttons and it has not happened yet to me.

Conclusion (up to this point): it may be the controller unit in the dash that is calling for air but not a door to open.

John

Ok so I just swapped the face plate (with all buttons) from the new unit to the old unit and put the old unit back in the dash. Seems to have fixed the issue with the rear air blowing opposite of what the display says in the center console (up is now up and down is down).

I have a new problem now though with the ext. temp on the DIC showing 55* while it's 95* outside. I didn't disconnect the batteries when I did the swap but I did disconnect them for a couple minutes after I discovered this issue. After reconnecting the batteries it's still showing 55* on the DIC. Anyone have any thoughts?

Disregard. Got it working again. I found this site that explains how it doesn't update until it's sat for 2.5 hours without running. I did an instant update by hitting the recirc and snowflake button at the same time and boom it updated to 100* which is correct.
