So my original radio went out, and I was going to replace it with the identical version from another truck. The issue is the radio is coded to the vin. I did the research and know it is the eeprom chip in the radio. This is a 6 disc changer by the way. Got the replacement followed instructions to remove the correct chip. When I got the radio I tested it and it did power on and said locked. After chip was removed it won't even power on. The chip I removed was the eeprom 9055093. Any help greatly appreciated.

What year is your ride? What year did the radio come from, and are you sure you removed the correct chip? I did the same mod on a radio from an 03, had single cd/cass setup and it worked fine. Only thing, said ERR in the upper corner on the display. Found how to do it on YouTube.

I removed the 9355093 chip in the upper corner. It came out of a 03 avalanche went in my 04 tahoe. Like I said it initially powered on with chip in it and said locked. Then I removed the chip that was supposed to be the eeprom and now it won't even power up.
