cool, but it is an annual $30 subscription for the service.

$200 + $30 a year (+ install?) for the privilege of using your iphone as an extra remote. the concept isn;t new, exept for the iphone app. Anyone remember the ones you used to call a number + #PIN to unlock your car? Onstar unlock before Onstar?

i don;t need to remote start my car from more than a mile away, especially since it is garage parked. I also did't see any alarm trigger indicators like you would get with a 2 way. I think i'll keep a 2way remote...

Some stupid Tech blogger went nearly bezerk over it, completely clueless moron, claiming that thieves would be able to remote start and drive away (sans keys)

Clifford Intellipage, which was a Clifford Avantguard 3 with the pager module option. I ran it for years and LOVED IT!!

If I had that SmartStart, I would take the trunk release aux option and instead run a latching relaying that kills the ignition. That way, you could kill the ignition from the phone if you ever were car jacked.

I would then disable that aux option from the remote itself (bitwiter?) so the thief couldn't just punch buttons and restart the truck.

And with our trucks, what good is a trunk release anyways? :)

ive installed 2 of these. mine and my fiances. works good. the $300 includes install and one year service. i dont let anyone touch our trucks, so i installed them. its only power and ground and plug in to alarm brain. then went to best buy cuz there is a website they gotta log in to to activate the system. second time they gave me the password in case i do some more. so if anyone needs one activated let me know.
