Hey all,

Does anyone know how I can replace my UCA bushings at home?

Last mechanic I spoke with said they'ed have to be pressed in/out.

Cheers.:happy160:

Buy the whole control arm of course. You can remove the control arms and take them in to have the bushings replaced

Just replaced all my control arm bushings with poly bushings using only a ball joint press like you can rent from a Parts store and a few other hand tools every garage should have

Bushing kit is $30 though.

I picked up new upper control arm from Amazon for $55 shipped, that also included the ball joint that you may as well replace while you're doing that work.

And from Amazon it was all AC Delco parts.

Lower control arms were more expensive at about $130 a piece for AC Delco brand.

If you don't have a shop press (every home garage should - cheap at harbor freight), this is the way to do it.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Different options to consider. Which I think I have considered most. I found two control arms shipped with ball joint and bushings complete for $184.

I will check out amazon for ac delco as the ones I found were Dormans and I have been having much luck with Dorman as of late.

I'd like to also go with the press or ball joint press.

With either of the press options I will need to acquire the cups or seal driver type cups ( not sure on name of that tool set) help me out??

I wish barely enough room with denali in the garage to work as it is. Duramax doesn't fit to put it in perspective.

I needed a flat washer, sawzall to speed up the process, the bushing are bigger than the bores of the press so just had to remove rubber to continue pushing the bushings out. Another trick that worked awesome was with a broken drill bit I drilled a few holes and let the drill do lopes between the bushing and upper control not necassry just helped break the seal. I can take a few pics of the cut bushings and installing new ones but there all out Allready. If you think a few pics would help let me know can do
