Used Escalade or New ‘25 Yukon /Tahoe/ Suburban?

Over next six months I’m ready to upgrade from a 2010 Tahoe LTZ. Should I get a used ‘22-‘23 Escalade sport or order a new ‘25 Tahoe/ Suburban/ Yukon. Probably will want the longer versions in a higher trim level eg High Country or maybe RST. I figure the cost is similar on these choices. I keep my cars a long time.

I'm having the same dilemma. The 25' Burban High Country is coming in very similar to a 21-24 Escalade ESV in terms of features even down to the new screen in the Burban/Tahoe. Once I can get some seat time in the 25' I think I'll have a better feel for which way I'm leaning.

Plus, there is 4 years of production learning and more distance from the pandemic if you get the 25...we do know of the issues in the 6.2 from late 21MY production into 2023....one would think "oversized lifter bores" and "bad lifters" are getting sorted out...but who knows....But, just from practice of making a few hundred thousand of them, one would think production quality has improved...and the kinks are starting to get out.

I would generally agree with this. I think the same applies to most manufacturers in most cases.

At first, we thought the lifter issues were confined to a very short production time frame. Proved to be false. Only time will tell. There's a new part number for the long block which I think is a relatively recent supersession:

I just traded in my 2023 Yukon Denali with 6.2 engine, only 10 months old with 8,000 miles, this was my 4th one since 1990. If you buy any one of the General Motors SUV's don't get the 6.2 engine, the reason I got rid of mine. The 6.2 engines have a high failure rate. I traded for a new Lincoln /navigator and although I am a diehard GM fan, the Navigator is far nicer, take one for a test ride to see for yourself.

What’s the big problems with the 6.2? I’ve been looking forward to getting that engine.

Lifter failures and main bearing failures.

The lifters will keep you out of business for a bit, but the engine will be reassembled if the bores aren't oversized. If they are, new engine I believe.

The main bearings that fail mean a new engine for sure. From what has been posted, there really aren't any warning signs before the motor seizes up.

It's a lot like playing the wind up jack-in-the-box kids game.......just wind it and hope for the best on your turn.
