What is the benefit of running E85? I don't think it's ever been available near me, so I've never really thought about it.
These engines run better on it. Slightly cooler, cleaner, cleans up combustion chamber, very resistant to knock, etc.

If the price is low enough, it may cost less per mile to use it compared with gasoline. The engines love it. But if it's not around, it's not around. Up there in the north they run a lower concentration to make starting easier in cold weather.

I am headed south to North Florida this weekend - I will be on the lookout for some E85 "in the name of science" along the highway!
When my Yukon was bone stock, I did some 'science' on the E85..
I didn't notice any difference at all in power or performance...
The only thing I really noticed was that my HWY MPG went from 16/17 ish
to about 14 ish on a good interstate trip. The trade off for price per gallon
seemed to about even out.
I can get E85 around here, but it's pretty out of the way..
One I put on my supercharger I wasn't able to use it anymore....
Now that I've pulled the SC and just went camshaft I haven't tried it out again,
but I assume it will be similar results.
So really it's a cost / benefit thing to me at this point

Why could you not use it with the supercharger? Boost loves E85. It's high octane (about 105), cools, and carries more oxygen.

The 6.2 when stock actually doesn't allow a power increase on E85 as the motor is already at the limits of the transmission.

Why could you not use it with the supercharger? Boost loves E85. It's high octane (about 105), cools, and carries more oxygen.

Some kits do not use larger injectors and therefore lack the capacity to burn E85 with the increased power of the supercharger.

I have seen octane ratings all over the place for E85. So what I did is settle on Sunoco's numbers. They list the R+M for 85% E85R as being 99 octane.

So from that I extrapolated what the R+M would be for each alcohol percent and wouldn't you know, it lined up pretty closely with those gas pump stickers for E15, E20, E40, etc.

That is why I could not use E85 with my Edelbrock SC.. Not enough fuel..
It uses the stock Flex fuel pump and injectors, so that pretty well maxes them out.
It didn't affect me much since E85 isn't the norm around here

Makes sense, although I would think a supercharger "kit" would come with a higher flowing pump and injectors due to the higher horsepower and keeping a good safety margin on the injector duty cycles

The NON Flex fuel apps do give you injectors and a boost a pump thing...
