The ******* valet engaged my 4x4 somehow, truck felt weird driving home , just around corners.

Figured it out the next day, trying to make a tight turn at Costco, so didn't drive for weeks or anything - just half a day or so, and noticed some drag when turning sharply.

How bad is this for the 4x4 system/transfer case?

I don't hear nay noises but am wondering how common this is, and how bad for my truck

Only those with (too much) experience doing something like this would be able to give you a clearer idea
of how bad this is.
Were I you, I'd remove & refresh the lubricants in the offended parts.

If you TRULY want a definitive answer, when you drain out the old lubricant, capture some of it, get it analyzed.

I drove for one day in 4Hi in NYC, by the way.
That day ended with me making two (unavoidable) 3point U-turns to back into my tight garage space.
Have not yet drained the front diff lubricant. When I do, I'll definitely have it analyzed.

THEN I'll be able to give an answer backed with numbers.

Lots of folks here can give you definitive answers/opinions on this. I have very limited experience with the 4WD system, but my inexperienced opinion says that you are OK.

Was it 4Hi or 4Lo?

I am no expert on 4wd by any means, this is more opinion than fact, but 4Hi at lowish speeds on pavement i don’t think would have hurt too much, unless.. A lot of turning was involved.
