Try swapping out your oil filter for wix before you drain everything
Tell us how you swap an oil filter without draining the oil? Pretty sure as soon as you pull that filter your oil is definitely going to drain. LMAO!

Just the same as you would normally.... just don't pull the drain plug.

You get the oil in the filter itself, whatever is held back by the ADBV, and the bit of oil in the channels between the oil pump and the filter.

It won't effect the 5.5 something quarts in your oil pan, so before you start trying to talk down and call me out, try to understand how this stuff works.

Cheap filters do all sorts of weird stuff. That's why I don't even bother with them any more. I'm taking an investigative approach to this by changing 1 variable at a time vs. Telling OP to piss away $50 in oil as the first thing he should try

Oh yeah...I just never heard of anyone pulling a filter without changing the oil, so I didn't think it through I guess. My bad. I think it's the full synthetic oil myself.

If it’s going away after it warms up maybe it’s just sticky lifters. As far as oil, as long as it has the API starburst on it, you are fine. But, this still could be caused by defective filter, Wix or not. You sure this isn’t piston slap?

I've started replacing 1 of my quarts with Lucas Treatment, I know it's been known to help out the valves and lifters

This what I am going to try this weekend. Part of the problem I think may have been because the knock sensors were both bad, maybe changing the detonation and making it a little noisy?? It's calmsed down a bit, but the synthetic could have broken everything up and maybe it's working itself out.. who knows I'll try changing oil and filter in a few thousand.

Valve chatter can be caused by oil additives. Have you been using any additives in the past? They are often thicker or have chemicals that can accumulate in small passages (like in valve lifters, or lash adjusters). An oil change can cause accumulated stuff to move into a position that blocks flow.

If you are having valve clatter, it can be caused by one or more sticky valves. Is it possible that the valve (or other source) noise was there before the oil change, but you just did not notice from inside the truck?

I suggest you replace the oil filter with another well known brand. That is cheaper than the oil. If that doesn't work, change the oil to the type of oil in the owners manual. Is it possible that the oil pressure sending unit is reading high? Noisy valves are an indicator of something wrong. I have known guys who used oil additives that were thicker than oil and this caused problems with the lifters (they have very small orifices in them). The result was noisy valves.
