Hey guys,
I am hoping to start on my 1st project with my dad. The vehicle is a 1996 Tahoe with a 5.7L Vortec. The engine needs to be rebuilt, and I have spoke with a machine shop which will be doing the work. I am looking at doing a 383 Stroker. The 4L60E was rebuilt with HD parts less than 15,000 miles ago. I am looking for advice on which cam to use, from what I have read, I don't want to go more than a .470-.475 lift on the cam. I will be using the same Vortec heads. I have several parts that I have been thinking about using, but I wanted to know what you guys think.
I will be using a **** assembly which includes a cast crank, Forged Pistons, and forged rods.

I am unsure on the cam so I have 2 options. I am not wanting too much of an aggressive sounding lope, I want it to sound like it has a cam, but not to the point to where it dies.

I will also be installing some headers, and I was wondering what you guys think about these. I don't want to run into problems when I putting the motor back in. So basically I am interested in these as longs as I don't have a headache because they don't fit when I reinstall the engine.

I will be looking at getting a 2200-2600 stall torque converter. Please advice which should be good. This will be a daily driver, to and from work which is about a 5 mile trip to and from work. I am also toying with the thought of spray. I will say a 75 wet shot of nitrous at most. I will be swapping the fuel injectors to the AC Delco Spider set up. I have a brand new fuel pump also.
I would like to add that IF and and when the 4L60 breaks, because everyone makes it seem that will break, I have a good friend who has a 4L80E he will sell, I don't want to pay for it at this moment.
Please let me know what yall think. The vehicle again is a 96 4 door Tahoe 4x4, on 18" raptors with 265/75 tires.
